Throttle Cable Broke

The wire for the throttle control wire that rides inside a sheath broke tonight right up close to the control lever on the dash. This is on a Craftsman YS4500 model.

Anyone know of any options to repair or replace OTHER than going through Sears parts? I am not impressed with Sears parts direct or their "help".

Last year I literally had to prove to their national parts line folks that the idler pulley they kept sending as a replacement for my original part was only off by about 2" in diameter. Thanks.

If you can determine who made the mower, you can go to that dealer and pick up or have him order the parts you need. The newer mowers are either made by poulan, mtd, or murray. Post the model number or even the part number of the cable, and I can tell you who made the mower.

Local mower shop can get parts if you supply model #, they may also stock the inner wire which you can buy
a length of and bend the ends yourself.

10-4. Sounds good. I was hoping I could replace that inner wire. I'll see what I can find with that or a replacement from a local repair shop. Thanks for the replies.

For it fixed. Got a used cable from a repair shop. Ended up taking the wire out of it and putting it in the sheath from my old one. Works good enough for me! Thanks again for he responses.

Good to hear. Now just remember to lube it every so often.
