I'd appreciate any help on this...
I have a New Holland TC33 DA with 300 hours. The throttle wasn't operating properly (the lower end of the throttle lever wasn't producing any change in motor speed). So I removed the upper section of the dash and see that the throttle cable sheath isn't secured to the metal bracket near the throttle lever. As a result, the cable kinks instead of flowing smoothly down the sheath. The top of the sheath is threaded, so I assume that there was a miniature nut at the top which is now missing. Can't figure out how it could be missing. Even if it unscrewed itself, it should still be on the cable, unless it broke apart and fell away. There is no way to get a new nut onto the cable, since there is the soldered ball at the end of the cable. Where do I go from here? Am I in need of a new throttle cable assembly? Am I wrong about the sheath needing to be fastened near the lever?
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Greg

I'd suggest finding the thread pitch, get a nut (preferably a double thickness one if available) and cut a slit in it with a hacksaw so that it will slip over the cable. You won't be able to snug it down very tight, but a dab of locktite should keep it in position.

Great thought, thanks! I now see that the top 1 of the cable is frayed (leading to bending/kinking so I値l probably just replace the entire cable/housing. But that痴 a great temporary idea!
Thanks,
Greg
