My trottle handle will not stay tight on its shaft. Consequently I have to always use the foot level to try and maintain RPM. I can tighten it by getting a wrench thru the hole, but it just loosens back up. Does it use lock tight on that nut to keep it in place?

Second question, to get to the nut and try and fix it, what is the proper way to get the shrouds off to gain access? All I can see are 2 bolts in a rercessed area below the steering wheel that bolt the 2 black pieces together. The rest is hidden. Are those the only thing that hold it. Seems too simple.

I either loctite the throttle tension nut, or double nut the bolt. It takes a 10mm nut if you choose to double nut it. I have probably done a couple dozen tractors over the years. Remove the two bolts you have found at the rear of the cowl, then open the hood and remove two more that screw into the front edge of the black cowl piece.
