MF 1726E
The manual for my MF1726E says there are grease fittings on the tie-rod ends. I found this (attached) on the left side, but it seems to be different from the other grease fittings. I have a grease gun with a "LockNLube" fitting that holds onto the grease fitting while you pump the gun. However, this fitting does not stick out enough to grab onto. Is there some reason why it is different? Is this the grease fitting I'm looking for?

A related question: there's supposed to be one on each side; but I don't see one on the right tie-rod end. Am I missing something?

Thank you.

It is broken. Just replace and you are good to go. The other side may be missing. Is there a hole?

Thnx K5lwq.

No, there is no fitting or hole on the other side! Can you think of any reason for that?

Do you have any advice on buying a replacement? I see online they come in variety kits. Should I just get one of those?

I would take it out and go to a Tractor supply. Take it to the nuts and bolt section. Use the size guides to figure out the thread size then go to where the grease is. There you will find small packages of fittings and get the correct size.

The only thing I can think of for the missing hole is at some point someone replace the tie rod end with one that is not greaseable. That or the hole is filled with crud and hard to see.

I would check with a dealer. The reason is maybe the factory switched in the middle of a run to greaseless. Happened to me. Owners manual says to grease but no zerks to be found, past a certain serial number.

You do not have to but from the dealer. Compatible zerks can be had for a fraction of the price, just search the part number. If you can't find the 2nd, better order 2 (and depending on shipping, a couple spares).
