Reverse tillers as you know run the dirt over the top of rotor, in harder ground they suck down into the ground better than the forward tillers, but still will require a slow ground speed.
I have used both types. My 2 cents....I use a foward tiller since I am in a lot of debris (unseen) the forward tiller will bounce up and throw debris out from under tiller if loose.
The revese tine will (if large enough) lodge debris between tines and upper sheild.
If your in no debris soil (vegitation is OK) the reverse will do a great job with one pass.
The forward tine tiller, if a heavy unit is used they do I nice job in one pass that is good enough for me from my expierance.
The lighter weight tillers will not dig into hard soil as well as the heavyer units.
I do mostly non worked ground most of the time.
If your in worked soil the lighter tillers work very well. Match up weights of different units.
I recomend the slip clutch aswell.
You should be able to handle a RTR2064 or RTA2064 unit with out any problems.
these are Land Pride model#....I have been using a RTA2570 for over 10 years, replaced tines 5 times and a month ago I replaced the non drive rotor bearing. The only thing I have done to it since new. There are other tiller brands but the LP works so well I dont look at other brands....personal taste.
Hope I helped you
