I'm sure this has been discussed before.

I'm Interested in buying a tiller for my bx.

The two choices I am looking at are:

Kubota B40C 37"

Bush Hog RTS 40-04 38"

Any input?

I would consider the CCM brand tiller. This is a gear driven tiller that appears to be good quality. I used to have a JD 50' tiller. If I bought a tiller for my BX23 I would go with their 48 inch or so . This would cover the width of the BX which is about 48" . Of the two series advertised I am referring to their upper line one that looks like it has copper pipe guards in the front. and is within the recommended HP requirements. The attachment points have a lower hole setting that would likely fit the BX tractor well. Right now I do not need a tiller but would not hesitate to buy one from CCM. Their prices are reasonable even with shipping. I have read that gear driven is more durable than chain and sprocket tiller.

I have a 48" KK, works great on the BX. You are at the top of the line on HP for it, but it does work.

My BX2200 with Ag tires is 42" wide.

I measured one with turfs on the dealers showroom floor today 43".

Emerichs recommends the narrower tiller as does Kubota and Bush Hog. They will sell me what ever I want, but I think I would rather follow manufacturers recommendations.

In my soil I'm sure the BX could handle a 48". I'm thinking of doing side jobs in the future and I don't know what kind of soil I might encounter. I might have to make 1 extra pass to do a job but my ground speed will most likely be faster.

Today I had Jim put my name on a Bush Hog RTS 40 with slip clutch
