JD 2210
Looking to buy a ~48" tiller for my 2210. Deere suggests the Deere 647 or the Frontier RT1140-1150/RT1240-1250 series. I have also look into the Woods GTC-52. The King Kutter is value priced and well acclaimed by owners. But at 600lbs vs ~400lbs for the others, it may be too heavy. Or is that irrelevant? The 2210 hitch is a Limited Cat 1 (700lbs) Input? Comments? Suggestions?

Thanks

The Gear Driven CCM CR50- 50" tiller is a good match for your tractor. This model has been developed for the sub-compacts and smaller compacts that have limited CAT 1 hitches. It has a 45 HP transmission with NO CHAINS to break or adjust like the lighter duty models have. 6 tines per flange, The hitch is offset adjustable. The PTO comes complete with a clutch. 410 LBS- $1,200
Or we have the MR145 49" 60 HP Gear Drive Transmission, 6 tines per flange, The hitch is offset adjustable. The PTO comes complete with a clutch. $495 Lbs- $1,300

Anyone not pushing their product have input?

I was down at my local Tractor Supply just a couple hours ago looking at the King Cutter tillers. I'd like some input also on their reputation. They appear to be pretty stout units, but the "engineering finesse," for lack of better words, is just not there. But, that is probably the trade off for the price.

I would go for a lighter tiller than the King Kutter TG-48. I think you would be unhappy with this much weight on your tractor and the tiller would feel akward on your smaller tractor. I own a BX23 and would not get the KK tiller for this reason. The WOODS subcompact series tiller would fit well with your tractor. I like the CCM gear tiller and would go with the sturdier MR model. These tillers weigh less than the KK. If I get a tiller I would probably go with the CCM gear one but this is my preference.

I have used tillers on tractors that were somewhat too large for the tractor. Although they work you feel that the tiller is too bulky and harder to control.

I've got a 48" tiller that I use on my BX2200, and in some wet soils, I have to slow down, overall, it does a good job. I took my tractor to my sisters house to till their garden with their 60"KK, tiller looks like it will last forever, but I had to go real slow in their too wet garden. The 60" KK seemed lighter on the rear end than my 48" so I'm sure that the 48"KK is lighter than the one that I have and I get along just fine with mine.

I'm in a similar situation. I'd really like to get a KK TG-48 or TG-60.

Does anyone with a JD 2210 have any experience with a 3ph implement at 600+ lbs?

Other 48" tillers seem to be in the 400 lb range. I don't really understand why the KK weighs so much.

I just bought a KKII 48" and run it on my FarmTrac with 23.8 PTO HP. It works like a charm and is a heck of a deal. I got it a TSC for $1098.00 and haven't found a better deal anywhere. They are not the prettiest unit out there but they are functional.

Two things have me thinking twice before buying the 48" KK.

1) KK says 20 HP min, the 2210 has 18 PTO HP.
2) The 48" weighs 600 lbs, which I don't really think will be a problem especially if i leave the FEL on.

Most other 48" tillers are around 400 lbs and only require roughly 15 HP.
