Tiller for new 2660

Looks like I'll be ordering a new 2660 tomorrow. Having followed TBN for several months I've based my decision upon the fact that Mr Thomas hasn't traded his 2660 in yet

, so it must be good, and Mr Brown's BX logic is irrefutable, and I am sure he is correct in that I will ultimately miss a backhoe

I'm going 2660 over 2360 to get all the hp to the PTO that I can. Otherwise, I think the 2360 would suffice. I'm going with a 54" MMM, not the fine-cut, FEL and want a tiller. I got a price of $1,300 for a forward operating tiller from another dealer but my Kubota dealer is quoting a 40" tiller at $2,100 and a 42" at $2,550. I believe these are Gearmore's. So, what do you like in tillers and what do you think is the right cost/benefit unit. TIA!

I honestly don't know anything about the Gearmore. I bought a rear rotating 50" by Land Pride for $1900. King Kutter also makes a good tiller which is quite a bit cheaper. I believe there is an old thread on here you might find useful.

You better go ahead and order. There's a line waiting on my trade in and they are going to be disappointed. You'll be happy with the BX2660.

I would believe what Mr.Thomas has to say... I also have been on TBN for several months and have found out he is a very helpful kind of guy and has very useful knowledge!

I would worry over a tiller not having a slip clutch on the drive in stoney conditions.

We have had several disgruntled customers that were not happy with changing shear pins.

ahnc,

at a minimum, i would want to cover my rear tracks, with a wide enough tiller (48"). for my 2360, i am zeroing in on a land pride rtr 50" with a slip clutch. you might consider an adjustable tiller that offsets left or right (usually more money) if you want to stay small width.
land pride & kubota also have the 0% rate for (24-36-48 months on implements?).

I've had my tiller for almost two months and really like it. (I also have a BX2660). The tiller was purchased from my Kubota dealer for $1850. It is a Land Pride RTR0550, reversing and wide enough to cover the rear tracks. I'm glad it has a slip clutch; my first use was through an area that was much rockier than I expected, and probably would have broken a few shear pins.
