I am preparing to purchase a Kubota 2410, however I have an application and pricing question on the tiller. The dealer has priced a 50" Woods tiller for around $1,500 and I have received a price of $999 for a 56" tiller from Tractor Supply. My question is will the 2410 handle the 56 tiller? I called two different stores and they both assured me it would. I just want to get some assurance that I can trust, like from fellow Kubota owners posting on this board. I have also emailed Tractor Supply to get a spec. sheet on the unit that they have.

I've used a 48" tiller with a B2100, and I think the tractor could run it all day. The dirt was so dry and rocky that I spent more time replacing shear pins than doing anything useful. So, I don't think you'd have a problem with a 56" tiller on a B2410.

What is the model number of the Woods tiller. They make all different kinds. The price is good. Turns out that nearly ALL tillers come from Italy for some reason. You can always take a set of tines off to make the machine equivalent to 6 inches less in length. Some of the old Long tillers had a gearbox that ran in the dirt and gave a lot of trouble. Many of the newer ones have the gearbox on top and use a chain or a single gear to get to the main tine shaft. I have looked at the Tractor Supply tiller and it looks pretty good and has an outstanding price. I did ask them about buying a set of tiller tines and they couldn't figure out whether they had any in stock or not or how much they would be if they had to order them.

To some extent you can vary the HP requirements of the tiller with the speed of the tractor. In general, you will want to use the tiller at about 1 mph, which is pretty slow.

RBrown,

I'm not a fellow Kubota owner, although some put up with me on the board...I own BLUE!

I'm looking at a B2400 brochure that I have from last year and it says it will handle a 57" Kubota tiller #BL60C for what that's worth!

My 18.5 hp New Holland TC18 will handle up to a 60" tiller so I think that probably a 24 hp Kubota should be able to handle the 50" or the 56" tiller OK. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Comparing the brands, I own two Woods implements, a rear mower and a rear blade and I believe that these are superior to the implements carried by TSC! I know it's $500 more, but I believe it would prove to be worth it. Good Luck!

The only tiller I've noticed at Tractor Supply was a King Kutter and it looked pretty good, as did the price. I paid $1,300 five years ago for a 40" Bush Hog and it's been a dandy machine (still is), but I do wish I had a little wider one now. I don't think you'll have a problem with that 56" tiller, RBrown, so go ahead and buy it. If it doesn't work out, I'll trade you a 40" Bush Hog for it./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I have a 60 inch and want to buy a HD Bush Hog 72 inch tiller, but they are not cheap. That is why I have a 60 inch. I can barely cover the tractor tires on one side by pushing it as far as I can to that side. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Same situation I'm in on a smaller scale; I offset the 40" to cover my tracks on the right side./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Bird,

<font color=blue> Here in Michigan, TSC handles a red implement that appears low in quality, Quality Stores Incorporated/Quality Farm & Fleet carries King Kutter. Just for clarification! I own a King Kutter rear scoop and believe it is decent quality, but not as good as Woods!

Yeah, the tiller RBrown looked at may be a different brand. Tractor Supply has a lot of good products, but they also have some that are cheap for a reason. The tiller I looked at was King Kutter yellow and was a 60" tiller for $1,299.

TSC also carries the red tillers around my neck of the woods for $999. First time I looked at them, they had one which obviously was used. Salesman said it was brought back, broke within 30 days. My next visit, a few weeks later, they had 3 of them returned. I asked the salesman about it and he omitted that they get a lot of them back, and most opt for a refund. Anyway, I decided then it would not be worth the savings.
