Just got a Maschio W125 tiller. (Chain drive.) Noticed a bit of oil seep on the top end. This is coming from somehwhere around the area where the drive shaft goes through the side of the tiller to meet the top sprocket of the chain drive.

I'm thinking a bearing for the drive shaft is seated in the flange support that bolts onto the side of the tiller, and I suspect there should be a gasket between the flange and the side of the tiller.

Anybody know if there is an oil seal anywhere in this assembley, or am I getting worried over nothing?

Thanks,

Slim

Leaking from a breather isn't much to worry about.. leaking from a shaft is. Could mean any number of things.. like a bad bearing that has let a seal go .. or the breather cap is plugged, and oil is being forced out at a seal.. this is particularly bad as the seal may be forced out.. etc.

DO investigate it.. an exploded parts diagram will help.

how much oil are you talking about? is it possible that it was slightly overfilled? wipe it clean and chek the oil level.
