Helo All,

Would like to hear comments if anyone has purchased any of the 3 point tillers on Ebay that are sold by jdimerchandise.
From looking at the pictures these are an Japanese import as the warehouse is in LA. One thing I like about them, looking at them is the 'sickle style' tines. I was told some time back, that the sickle style tines, ( rather than the 90 degree tines)are much better in regards to deflecting debri, tree roots, etc. Also was told that these are much more effecient ,period. Dont know how anyone can tell,
It looks like it is hard to beat the price, but without physically seeing one, like everything else,it is hard to tell the actually craftsmanship of the finish unit.
They all ship with a slip clutch which would be a nice out of the box feature.

Thanks,
Barry

I have sold several of the Japanese tillers. They work great on the Japanese tractors. They don't work as well on the 540 only PTO. They don't work well on the older tractors that don't have slow enough ground speed. They can till at high ground speed, if you have the 3 or 4 speed PTO. The curved tines do great in wet or muddy soil. They don't break ground well. Make sure the tines are good. You can buy a whole tiller for the price of a set of OEM tines, if you can find them. The knock off tines from 3rd world countrys, are not worth the time it takes to install them. I kept an Iseki tiller that I wouldn't sell for any amount of money. My opinion is based on 5 or 6 year old info. Things may have changed as far as tines availability.

I think you get what you pay for, if you are looking for a good tiller at a competitive price look into a King Kutter tiller. These are less expensive than some of the name brand units and have received good reviews from lots of TBN posters. I have had good success with Howard and Deere tillers but may consider a small KK tiller for my garden tractor.

I have one of the KK-XB tillers and it won't break ground (at least the ground I was playing in). Before I plowed it, it just ran on top and scraped all the grass off down to the dirt. It wouldn't penetrate. Now after I plowed, the KK had no trouble.

Keep in mind that this patch hadn't been disturbed in many years and had a fair amount of palm sized flat rocks distributed throughout.

you would be smarter an better off buying a brushhogg or a landpride tiller.i would not buy those tillers your talking about.

As others have said, see about parts availability. For me, a tiller that you can't fix is not much of a bargain, even if it's price is very low. I just don't have enough time to screw around trying to find parts to fix things. I have a KKII 60'. It breaks ground very nicely with 26 HP at the PTO. What kind of soil do you have? I wouldn't want to beat those sickles on too many fist sized rocks - I think they are meant for working soil that has already been prepared to some extent (already been tilled, disked or bottom plowed).

King Kutter II is the way to go as far as I'm concerned! Used a Frontier w/ chain drive, it worked, but the chain drive system isn't as strong as the gear drive system that you will find in a KKII.

Barry - not sure where you are located but for the $$, take a good look at the KKII tiller, do you know of any close by that you can look at? TSC sells CountyLine (though they show the KK on their website). Any comments here gang on those who have a CountyLine tiller??

I know what it is like to buy on a budget & I would seriously reconsider the units you are considering in your original post. I think you might be throwing away your money???

I don't think you'll be disappointed w/ a King Kutter! (IMHO)
