I went tiller shopping today and received the follwing prices:

Bush Hog RTS 50" tilling width $1625
Woods GTC 52" tilling width $1350
New Holland 52" $2015 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif scratch the NH off the list...
Befco Series T30 50" tilling width $1500

What do you think about these prices? Good, bad, about right?

I think those prices are OK. There are various strengths of tillers. They classify them as general use or commercial use etc. that will play a big part in the price.

Maschio Tillers make John Deeres tillers, I am told, but they are cheaper without the green paint.
Maschios are... 47"-$1395.00 57"-$1495.00

Maschio makes only the Frontier tillers. Sicma makes the JD tillers now. These RT1150-49" tillers have a 25 HP chain drive transmission.

Not saying your wrong but...

I talked to a Maschio dealer at the power show in Columbus, OH about a month or so ago and he said " JD tillers are Maschio tillers with green paint". Why would he say that if they didn't make JD tillers.

Now, how good of quality are the CCM tillers? I'm looking to buy a tiller but don't want to spend an arm and a leg. As you all know I'm cheap. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I paid 1300.00 for the Woods 52" last month- fit and finish looks good.

This is the Sicma tiller made for JD. Some dealers call Frontier implements JD because they are green but they are Frontier not JD.

As to the quality of CCM Gear drive tillers, there is not a better made tiller for any money made any where in the world. There might some lighter duty chain drive tillers that have smaller transmissions and weigh hundreds of LBS less than the CCM tillers that are still priced less than a CCM tiller but they are considerable less tillers as well. CCM is a commercial grade tiller not one of those commodity grade tillers like most of the chain drive guys sell.

Hi viking65. I ran a 67 inch Caroni and wore out a set of times. Machine ran good but it wasn't heavy enough for some soil conditions. I added weight several times to make up for what the machine lacked.

I've been looking and looking hard for a tiller that would fit my conditions. CCM is the only tiller I've found that has the weight to go with the machine.(example:) Agri-Supply #40590 Heavy duty tiller 90" working width, weight 983 lbs.---- CCM - SR240 Super Heavy Duty Tiller, 90" working width, 1550 lbs. The price was very close with the two machines. Now I know which one is going in the ground better when it's a little hard or tight. That CCM has the weight to do the job. That's also a pretty big difference in weight between the two machines and both with gear drives too. Agri-supply was not in stock. CCM was waiting for me whan I got there.

I made the trip today to CCM and brought a tiller home. What I bought was for a larger tractor but I did look at the line up of different size tillers that were on display. They have a very well made line of tillers. I was looking for the most bang for my buck. I think I got that today. And will add they were very nice folks to deal with. They had answers to all my questions and were very helpful.

Just thought I'd throw my two cent in here. Y'all have a good day. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Charolais,
Thanks for the kind words. Usually a dealer is judged when they make a mistake. We do make some but we try to correct them ASAP. We preach the value of premium equipment and look the world over to find it. Often satisfaction means the customer never calls us until they want to trade again, so it's good to hear it on the front end.
Thanks Again,
Mark Carter
