Tiller PTO shaft replacement

Need some advice on my PTO shaft for my tiller. I was out tilling the garden and heard this thing come apart. Never really looked at it before but it appears to be beat up pretty bad. Maybe it can be repaired?

I found repair parts(new yoke and u joint) on Hoye but for the price(about $120) was thinking about just buying a whole new unit.

Do they make them this short. Seems like I need one around 16"-18" and I can't find anything even close to that short.

I do not have any parts for those tiller shafts. I'm not sure what you found on our site but it will not work with your shaft.

I do have a bunch of used tiller shafts and parts coming in pretty soon though and might have something there that will help. A local driveline shop could probably build you a shaft that would work also.

It looks similar but that is for the 4wd shaft of a YM186D. It does not have the same splines or u-joint dimensions.

What brand and model tiller do you have. My Yanmar tiller has a 6 splined shaft. How many splines and what size is your shaft? PTO Yokes & Repair Kits

It is a Yanmar 1503 tiller. I looked at just the yoke but I need the female side of the driveshaft not the yoke that attaches to the tiller. It is a 16 spline and about 1 1/8". I haven't been able to find just that piece.

I have 5 (almost new) yanmar tiller PTO shafts both ends = male & female end. They have so many splines because they are for high speed tilling.
I was doing a final cleaning out the shop and buela !

I went ahead and just picked up a longer unit that I will cut down. Fits up fine and now I can get off the shelf parts for it locally.
