Kubota BX 2230
Hi,
I'm new to this forum and was wondering if anyone has any insight as to Roto-tiller width selection goes for BX 2230.It is about 44" wide at the tires. My dealer recomends a 42"width tiller. This seems to me it will leave tire tracks.I was wondering if this tractor has sufficient power to run a 48"width.It is a spendy impliment and I want to be sure I purchase the correct width. Thanks for all your expertise.

I run a 45" tiller behind my 15hp Mitsubishi, I am quite sure you could run a 48" behind your 22hp Bx.

A BX2200 runs a 48" tiller just fine. No bogging, no jumping, no problem. And the tires tracks are covered.

I run a 59" tiller behind my 60" tire width and it's offset an inch to the passenger side. It fluffs everything up enough that I don't get tracks no matter which side I take my next pass on.

You probably wouldn't notice any tracks with a 42".

Larger tillers cost more and many of the quality tillers offset, if I could do it again for my needs I might get a smaller offset model. The 60" takes up a lot of storage space too.

Are you going to run a reverse rotation or forward rotation?

Bx23
BX 1500
The tiller is a 48'' KK and works great on both tractors .
Don't go with a 2 narrow 42'' tiller.

I am sure you can go larger. Your dealer is going by manufactuer recommendations, but I am sure you can go larger with no problem.

There is an old thread on here about the pros and cons and I won't even attempt to summarize it, but a counter rotating tiller is going to use more hp and might affect your choice.

Considerations will also be the type of soil and tilling you intend to do.

I had a BX2200 and I think it would be under powered for a 48" counter rotating tiller though it might be OK for a forward rotating tiller. I use one on my BX2660.

There are some You Tube posts on tillers you might want to check out.
