I have been reading this forum for quite some time. I find the people very knowledgeable. I have a BX2200 and want to know what the best tiller I should buy. Should I buy the one from Kubota, or another brand? I plan on using this a lot and want the most bang for the buck. Thanks to all of you in advance.

jimz,
If it was me I would stick to the Kubota brand.
For the tiller was made to match the tractor and you already have good dealer if repairs are needed.

Hello Jim, I have been using a Befco for the past eight years and am completely happy with the performance. I till in the summer and fall for customers in hard pack soil, some rocks. The Befco has never let me down, does a great job of mixing the soil and tills to a depth of ten inches. The unit has a very simple side shift mech. This is my second Befco my first was a 42" unit that was used behind a B7100. The new unit is 66" and goes behind a TC33D New Holland. To date no problems and when ever I have had a question the support staff at befco have been very helpful and more then willing to talk as long as I wanted about the product. I put between 100 and 125 hrs. a year on my unit tilling about 40 gardens and doing renovation of lawns. So if ya hurt it ya did something wrong. Take a look at them. Also Country Farm and Tractor is now selling King Kutter and they are heavy duty looking units that are gear driven. Good luck drop me a note and let me know what you do. Mark

All tillers will work. some work better. The main thing to remember is to not over size your tiller. For a tiller to work well, you need to have the power to spin the tiller in the ground at a high speed to prperly till and have the power left to pull the tiller forward. When the tiller is too large, the ground is not properly tiller and the tractor is over worked. The sizes given in your manual are to be followed. Oversizing is just a bad idea. May not harm the tractor, but the job you do will be lacking.

jimz, I've been using a Bush Hog RTS40 for over 5 years; it's taken a beating and just keeps going with never a problem so far. I'd prefer one the same width or slightly wider than the rear track of the tractor, but bought it when I had a smaller tractor, so now it's offset to the right to just cover the track on the right. And I bought it from my Kubota dealer who said he seldom sells the Kubota brand because of the high cost.
