Yanmar YM2310, Honda H5013, Case 580 CK, Ford 9N
Last year I bought a Yanmar tiller. To go with the YM2310 I bought last year. In order to use it I needed to make extensions for the pins that fit into the 3 point hitch lower arms. Either my tiller was not made for my tractor or the lower arms of the 3PH are the wrong ones. Too short. Either way, I could not get the tiller to work even with a shortened Yanmar drive shaft. By the time I got the shortened driveshaft (Thanks Cary!) it was too late in the season to start tilling. So I made extensions over the winter. Today I finally got them mounted and tried out the tiller for the first time. Hooray! The thing works great! I have a lot of tilling to do. And once again I love my Yanmar. I am sure there are plenty of 40 year old tractors that are built just as well and work just as well and I'm sure their owners love them. But I have this Yanmar and it is a great machine. It starts easily, is frugal user of fuel, is mechanically sound, and is fun to use. The more I use it the more I appreciate it. Surely it will outlast me.

Eric, Please oh please share pictures of your setup. There are Yanmar tillers out there that need help to mount correctly for us Yanmar owners and other branded tractor owners. Your clever solution can help many!

It was worth it even the problems I had. Can't recall if I mentioned before but even with the correct Shaft for my setup. Same Length as that one, I still had to remove my Over Run Clutch. I thought was Weird at the time but made perfect sense after using it. The Ground stops the Inertia of the Tiller. Preventing it from turning the Tractor's Pto. My FM It's a must. PITA. to remove it lining up the Pin shaft holes, But your learn to get good at it. If you have a old style like I do. You can see how big it is if you look hard.

These are the extensions. They are 10 inches long and the pin location has been moved 7 inches. I used a 3/4 bolt in the original pin hole because the hardware store didn't have any 19mm bolts. The other two holes are 10mm. Using the holes in the extension plates as guides I drilled and tapped the tiller plates m10 x 1.25. I wanted to use all metric fasteners because the tiller is all metric. Since 3/4 is so close to 19mm I put 3/4 holes in the extension plates. I tapped the 10mm holes because there is a gusset welded where one of the 10mm holes had to be. Since I didn't want one bolt with a nut and the other threaded in I made them both threaded. The plates are made from 5/8 thick 3 inch wide cold rolled steel flat bar. When the weather warms up I will remove the extensions and paint them. The plates could have been welded to the tiller. I have several welders and the skill to weld them on, but I decided to bolt them on just in case I ever want to remove them.

Your picture doesn't look exactly like my tractor and so I couldn't figure out what you mean by your FM.
I will post a picture of the PTO shaft you gave me after it is painted. I machined away a bunch of the original weld and added some more of my own because there was a bunch of slag in the original weld. Please don't consider this as being critical, I am a pretty good welder and used to be a very good welder. So when I get a chance to pretty up a weld I will do it. Even my own welds. I am also a just retired machinist and I still have my complete machine shop so welding and machining are easy for me to do. I really appreciate the stock Yanmar PTO shaft. From the radiator back I have a Yanmar tractor, a Yanmar PTO shaft, and a Yanmar tiller. My FEL is Bulldog brand though. I guess nothing is perfect. And even if someone offered me a free Yanmar loader (did Yanmar even make one for the 2310?) I don't think I would go through the trouble of swapping FELs. However, if someone wants to sell me a Yanmar backhoe for my tractor for the right price I will gladly make a subframe for it and then bolt the whole mess onto my tractor. Actually, for the right price I will buy even a non Yanmar backhoe if it will fit my tractor.
Thanks,
Eric

Eric,

Yes, Yanmar made a loader for the YM2310 - - -

For your interest, it covers many of the YM model Gray Market machines with loaders. :)

The exporters to the USA do not send the loaders over here. Rather these loaders go to Thailand or VN for use. :(

This is my limited loader PDFs.

FM. Finishing Mower. My YM2000 is Tech. my Lawn mower. Rain on the way so just had it out today First time this Season. A couple months I don't use it weekly in Ga.. I use a over run clutch and didn't know if you do. Just a guess and not knowing it's there and removable. For someone to put shorter Lift arms on a bigger tractor seemed strange?.......

Yeah, I think the lift arms on my tractor are the wrong ones. Too short. The stock Yanmar drive shaft and tiller should work. The tractor was supposedly rebuilt in Viet Nam and then exported to the USA so maybe somebody made a mistake. But the tractor runs great, starts easily when cold even though the thermostat is broken, is easy on fuel, has an FEL, and I only paid 2500 bucks for it last year. So if I need to make extentions for the tiller I think it's OK..
