I am a cap guy so a hat seems a bit much, but my girls thought I needed a wide brimmed hat to protect me from the sun. They got me a Tilly Air-Flow for Fathers day. I think they gave a small fortune for it. I hate to admit it, but I love it more each time I wear it. Fits different and feels different than any hat I have ever tried on. It has been scary hot for several weeks and I don't get on the tractor without it. It just works.

They are nice hats, have two of them. One is more for rain, which is a fair amount in the fall, winter and spring up our way, it's called The Tilley Hat and one with a band of venting near the top of the side, it does say Tilley AirFlo inside. I believe they even got then for the military for serving overseas. We have had a bit of a heat wave here as well, into the low 90's, which is not that common. Going to a poultry and small animal swap and shop tomorrow so think I'll be wearing the Airflo.

Just got the Tilley AirFlo this week while on vacation in Durango, CO. I am a stetson guy at home, but i tend to travel to desert places and work outside quite a bit and I need a hat that can crush down into a suitcase.

So far so good with the hat. I do like the fit. I also like the chinstrap "system" that holds the hat on the head even though it is not snug.

My Tilley has been through the bush hog and I still wear it. My favorite story is about the zoo keeper that had an elephant eat his Tilley. A few days later he got it back, green and slimmy. A rinse off and back on his head. He wouldn't give it up.

Might be quite unusual but:

I'm kinda partial to climbing helmets. Keeps the owies away and has good ventilation!

Come winter a fleece liner and the bald pate is happy. Slip on the steep icy driveway [Regular Occurrence] and the daytime stars don't come out!

Wow, good timing. I just bought my first Tilley and like it a lot. It is a model T3.

I got one of the Henschel breezer hats this spring. I love it. If there is any breeze at all, it is like having an a/c on your head. Well worth the money.

Them folks Down under may get upset finding their hats are imported.

First of all, I hate wearing hat, cap, visor or anything.
Second, my head is such that it is hard to find anything that I think looks decent on me.
Third, I grew up on a farm where we worked outside all the time, so we had to wear something on our heads or we would cook. So I have tried several styles.

About three years ago I finally bought a Tilley. Now, I wear my Tilley all the time while working in garden, yard, on the tractor, etc. Looks fairly decent, or maybe I just got used to it, and it is DIRTY. Been through the washer three times, but it is DIRTY.

I have on my Christmas/Birthday/whatever list that I want two more Tilley hats. One for the gulf, and one for "sunday go to meeting" hat.

Tilly Hats are very popular with sailers because they not only protect your neck, ears etc, but they also float. Hopefully on the tractor you won't test that feature.

I have a cotten full brim hat that I bought with my daughter college name on it. She still thinks it is ugly. But for the tractor work, especially mowing where I look down a lot, my neck tends to get burnt, so I like wearing it. Because it is just a floppy cotten, I can throw it in the wash with the jeans every once in a while & I'm good to go again.

Don't laugh now
