Maybe it was only driven in reverse. Why would anybody buy that and not ever put tags on it.

We bought Subaru several years old with about 1000 miles on it. The old lady who used to own it didn't have driver's licence and used the car only when her neighbor drove her shopping. She traded it in for new Toyota Camry.

One of my boating buddies bought a 1986 I believe 2500 Suburban with a diesel that only had 13,000 miles. It was 2 wheel drive but loaded for its year. He got it in or around 2010 for $8500 which I thought was high.

Are you sure the previous owner didn't give your buddy $8500 with the truck? Those 6.2L diesels would make a good boat anchor. BTW - have your friend replace the harmonic balancer. The rubber rots and lets the outer ring slip, which can then lead to a broken crank. Age is more important than miles (mine had 26K and was rotted).

Same with this truck. Yeah its nice, but its never easy on a vehicle to sit unused. The price of $28K must be based on a new truck, but its not a new truck. Its an 06 that sat for ten years. Even if the tires still have the casting nubs, they have to be replaced due to age!

I believe it has 6.5 but don't quote me on that. I do know it's had the tranny out since he has had it but other than that it does what he needs but it's gutless. Has about 2/3 the power of a modern gas V8 or Ecoboost.

I had neighbor who bought a twelve year old Pontiac fiero from the vocational school . It had under. Thousand miles when he bought it. He moved shortly after buying it so I don't know how the car performed after sitting for those years

If original, its a 6.2L. About 135 Hp (depends on HD or LD emissions) and 280 ft-lbs of torque. On a bad day, with three cylinders de-activated, the Ecoboost would still make more power. The 6.2L was never a powerhouse, but these could turn out some impressive mileage in the right truck. It was GM's slow reaction to the oil embargo 10 years earlier and was designed an option from the base engines for mileage, not power.

I had a 3/4 ton with the diesel that routinely turned 25 mpgs. Some of the loudest, slowest miles I've ever driven.

Have your buddy read up on the dieselpage. Good info with lots knowledgeable people regarding the 6.5 and 6.2. Lots of little tips and tricks to these trucks to keep them running.

yea no one is going to buy a modern truck even with no miles for that!!! dont understand people that think if they dont drive it it will be worth more.

This is kind of like the yanmar tractor somone posted thier link to in the yanmar section. It was like a 30Hp 30-35 year old tractor that they wanted like $12000 for and it didnt evan have a loader !!
