Maybe it was only driven in reverse. Why would anybody buy that and not ever put tags on it.
One of my boating buddies bought a 1986 I believe 2500 Suburban with a diesel that only had 13,000 miles. It was 2 wheel drive but loaded for its year. He got it in or around 2010 for $8500 which I thought was high.

Are you sure the previous owner didn't give your buddy $8500 with the truck? Those 6.2L diesels would make a good boat anchor. BTW - have your friend replace the harmonic balancer. The rubber rots and lets the outer ring slip, which can then lead to a broken crank. Age is more important than miles (mine had 26K and was rotted). Same with this truck. Yeah its nice, but its never easy on a vehicle to sit unused. The price of $28K must be based on a new truck, but its not a new truck. Its an 06 that sat for ten years. Even if the tires still have the casting nubs, they have to be replaced due to age!
