Time for a pintle hitch?

I think I will upgrade the ball mount as many of you alluded to. Sounds like a correctly size-matched pintle might be the overall best solution but would require me reconfiguring my trailer tounge.
I bent it hauling several loads of 10-15 granite boulders (in the 3-6cf range and 700-1800lbs each) and am positive each load was well in excess of the rated tounge load of the ball mount bar (which I can't read but was likely a 5k bar). Still was surprised it bent.
I think a forged ball mount is the way to go.

I'm guessing you lifted it too high trying to use it as a ramp

Nope. Unloaded by sliding individual rocks out with the loader. I have done that before though and reserve the right to do it again. :) Just have to find the right hitch method and equipment.

You can get the best of both worlds. Ball and pintle hook.

Soooo, if that's what did the hitch in, what else is bent on the trailer now?

Reasonable question.... Nothing on visual inspection but we'll see. Not road going so not too worried about it.

Soil stock Chinese steel. Rated to tow 10k with the 2-5/16 ball. I'll abuse the crud out of this one and see how it holds up.

nothing is heavy duty enough for diamond pilot........how do all these tandem/triaxle dumpers tow these dozers and excavators on tag trailers? launching those boats gets heavy.........

Yeah, I noticed that too.
