Well, the time is here. I had already changed the oil at 15 hours to remove the break-in oil and now will do the full 50hr service.

I put Rotella T 15w-40 in at that time (that's what I run in my truck the other tractor I had).

I want to put Amsoil full synthetic 5W-40 in and was wondering if this was ok. My manual states API CC or MIL-L-46152. I'm having trouble finding what oil will suit that rating.

Also, on the trans/hydraulic fluid I'm thinking of putting Amsoil Synthetic Tractor/Hydraulic oil 5W-30 which states that it meets the permatran rating.

Any ideas if the synthetic diesel oil listed above is ok.

I run full synthetics in my truck, boat, pwc and Cub Cadet...so would like to move this one to full synthetics also.

Thanks

I know some may say synthetics are overkill, too expensive,etc.....but when you only have to change the oil 1 time a year at the hours I put on, 3 qts. of oil isn't much....also, the 250hr service of the trans will take me years to get to and we're only talking 4 gallons or so.

Your choice of Amsoil for both the engine oil and UTF are fine. The API CC is a old spec that isn't found used in many thing's (if anything) these day's. The current API CI-4 or CJ-4 oils will be fine.

Actually it's rather interesting that they spec a API CC oil. That API code has been obselete for some time now and was last used as factory fill back in 1990.

thanks...they probably just never update the manuals... and that's probably why I couldn't find any information on it.

I have been using both Amsoil products for 2 years/ 140hrs in my GC2310
and everything is fine. Don't forget to put it in the front axle too.

Well, here's my experience on the 50 hour service.

1) oil/filter change - easy as I have done this one before on this tractor at 10 hours.

2) Front axle - easy

3) Transmission and hydraulics..... removed MMM, took off right rear whell just to get better access to the filter and drain....very simple and easy to work around. Put wheel back on, take of left rear wheel, unscrew suction filter, clean out. Here's where I messed up....putting the screen back in, I went to give it one more turn to make sure it was tight.....yup....broke the bolt head and part of the suction filter. Was able to unscrew it with a pair of pliers so now I need to pick up another one.....

so....be very careful putting those back on...they don't have to be tight like you're putting a drain plug in....the orings will seal....so, learned my lesson.....can't finish till next week now....
