Do you an idea why they grind the lettering off and call them blemished. ?

I don't, would be interesting to know though. They look like they may be stained a bit but other than that look good.

Quite often the blemish is in the lettering, once in awhile you will find one that looks like a retread, and I have seen a few that had vulcanized patches applied.
Many manufactures require that the names be removed from any of there tires sold as blems.
