Since LarryRB brought him up. I would buy a tractor from Wallace in a heartbeat. That is actually the dealer that helped me out with a warranty issue when my local dealer dropped the ball although he is clear across the United States from me. I have an order for parts with him right now. That said if you are looking for something lighter for mucking around in mud the Kubotas lead the field with power to weight ratios. Wallace is a straight shooter. Tell him your application. I believe if he thinks another brand of tractor would be a better fit for you he would say so. Not manny dealers would do that. He is a salesman though and will definitely point out the positive points of his products.

Thanks, Twigpig. Frankly I am not blame local dealer either. The dealers I am dealing locally are almost 3th or 4th generations in family company. They are young(late 20 to early 30) and rich (multi-millinioner at least). I can feel the attitudes from older owners(their parents) is much better. That just the human naturality:) May be our 3th or 4th generations worse than them.
Plus, less and less people want to do farming these years. Their profits should be far less than car dealers. People in my area 3th or 4th generations usally sell the farm and move to city. I am an IT manager in top 50. I know people here how easy to get a 100k job. All my friends think me crazy to buy this property:D . But I remember an elder told me, two things in this world will become less and less, one is real antique, the other is land. From long vision, lower food miles is the trend. But, may be I am just in my dream.:p

I bought from Wallace even though he is over 200 miles away and I have a local dealer. Wallace is an excellent dealer. Perfect tractor prep. and final "assembly". This is a very important last step that the lesser dealers don't always do as well. Great support too, what little I've needed. And probably the best price on Kioti that you'll find any where.

M31...have you tried Lemmons, a Massey dealer in W.V.? There have been a positive posts regarding there service, pricing and ability to deliver out of state for better prices than local dealers.

Life is beautiful, because everyday is a different day. Today is my closing date for that land. Opps, suppose to be. Because agent and lawyer promised a month ago, they even ask me want to close early or not. Now I am ready and they told me the seller is out of country, must go to the US embassy to have them notarized and then send them back. Sorry for the delay. Talked to them in passed two days. the result is no argue no complain, no other choice except wait. At least one week :(

Like coasterez, I too bought from Wallace Tractor & Equipment.
IMHO, you will not find a better dealer.
Between Rick and his wife Amy (Mrs. Tractor), you will not find a better or a more helpful dealer.
When I broke the FEL Joystick (my bad) last week, Amy had the replacement parts to me next day. I called Rick before starting the replacement, and he gave me instructions on how to get started.
Wonderfull dealer.

Another dummy question, can I use R4 front tires and R1 rear tires together in my situation?? the DK40SE I am looking, the front R1 only 8"(8-16/6) and R4 is 10"(10x16.5/6) wide. And change front tires sounds little easier because FEL can lift.
If you change to 10x16.5 on the front then you will have to change to 14.9X24 in the rear, that will keep the relative ratio the same. There is only about 0.1" difference in diameter between an R1 and an R4 in these sizes depending on brand, so you should be OK. If you are going to go this way I would order the tractor with R4's and then switch the rear to R1 if necessary; this way you will have the correct rim width.

May be the $2000 more charge can let them feel better to fix the tractor later. Really no idea about that.
I should hope so!

What kind of crop(s) do you plan to grow? Be sure the tractor will have enough ground clearance for what you'll be doing and that the wheel tread spacing is suitable. Good luck, take your time and don't rush into a decision.

How many inches of good muck soil are on that property? My understanding is that you have to be careful that not too much of the soil has subsided (oxidized) over the years, to the point where you only have a few inches left.

There have been several large auctions of muck farm type veg equipment in western NY recently, I guess people retiring, labor shortages with immigration enforcements, etc. I am attaching copy of one recently, you can see kinds of tractors used from large to small, tire sizes, etc, including 10 Allis Chalmers G's, crawlers, MFWD's, dual wheels, etc. Notice the Kubotas with special narrow tires, but you will have to find one machine to try and meet most of your needs with some compromises.
