Greetings to all of you. I'm running under the name 4 Mile which comes from having a shop 4 miles north of the main highway here in northern North Dakota. I grew up in this area, attended North Dakota State University worked for Case in the mid to late 70's, ran a oil well service co. maintenance shop until mid 80's, worked for a manufacturer of foundation boring machines, was fortunate to get a position with Caterpillar Global Paving Division. I have worked with equipment hands on from the start. Starting with Case doing dealer tech training on new models (anyone remember the 580C loader/backhoe. Lived in the middle of Detroit 2cycles (from 4/71's to v12/92t) and Allison's at the well service co. Did hydraulic system development, installation and testing with the boring units. Finished at CAT doing electric, hydraulic, drive train system development and testing for soil compactors and asphalt pavers. Finished my paycheck career with CAT as the assistant service engineer responsible for all field technical support for large asphalt pavers for North America. Retired and moved back to ND where I had a small 2000 sq ft shop built. Did maintenance and service on large trucks and trailer for 4 years during the oil boom (this is Bakken country) and since the slow down have been kept busy by the farmers and ranchers in the area. I also have a small machine shop and welding equipment so do fair amount of machining (lathe, mill, shaper) and can weld nearly any type metal (Arc, MIG, TIG, Spool gun, Spot welder) Some day I may slow down but I doubt I will ever quit working on equipment. Simple issues are easy but I enjoy the challenging ones that make ya think.
I operate the business as 4 Mile Service.
