Time to start the garden...

About 2 thirds of potatoes came up. If they produce it will be more than enough for my needs. Tomatoes are finally starting to move.
Melons and squash are still dragging their tendrils.

I didn't plant any potatoes hereat home this year, but what we planted back in April at Smeck Historical Farm Park are doing pretty good for the dry weather we had. We planted 300 lbs. and looks like my little potato planter did a decent job. One of the guy's pulled out a 3" potato already

The open space to the left we planted pumpkins in last Monday. I counted 32 rows we put in, and they are approx. 225' long. Depending on the weather, and pests that get into everything we should have a pretty decent Harvest Celebration come mid-Sept.

LOL, that's not at my place, but at a County Park where they let out tractor club plant different crops to show people how it's done. Kind if hit & miss on that due to weather and who's available to plant. Then in Sept. the park holds a harvest celebration, dig potatoes, pick popcorn, Indian corn, and pumpkins, and give to the folks who show up.

Our way of giving back to the local community for supporting us at out show, and everything else we participate in.

I made corn (about 10 bushels) after being blown down 3 times last time did not stand back up....a decent amount of squash and cucumber... But the rest is in flood retention deficit... It's drowning here in SE Ga...
Might have to replant peas and beans for a fall crop (made a few bushes are dying from drowning)... peppers and okra doing ok.... watermelon, pumpkin and cantaloupe hanging on barely (drowning) but on a side note... I have a bumper crop of blueberries this year.. pics..picking 1-2 gallons every
3-4 days..

Also my satsuma mandarin oranges are looking great with all the rain.. (night pics)

Wish we could plant citrus but north Texas just gets too cold unless I put them in containers and bring them in and out in the middle of winter...

Still might do that. - We're in zone 7 and most citrus are good for zone 8 and higher.. Even the new hybrids...

When under freezing temps here that might hurt the trees ... Below 25.. I've used citrus frost bags over the trees and had a mister system going under the bags.. barely any damage this past year on a 16 degree night.. just some minor leaf damage where leaves were pressed tightly against cover and a stem or two that were above the misters

Just wanted to post up some updated pics of the Satsuma Mandarins...one tree really put on some "big ones". . While the other is more normal size...
