Oil & Fuel timeing gear setup on a kubota 3 cyl diesel

this is my first time on i hope iam in the place for this post. i am rebuliding a 3 cyl diesel engine it broke the crankshaft with out warning the con rods were ok . no bearings were spun and no damage to the block i ordered a new crank berrings rings ,ouch! on the price . the question is when i dissembled the engine i could no get All the marks to line up before i dissembled it it appered it was assembled out of time has any one seen this before i instaled a degree unit on the fly wheel to set up timeing need help on this one <font color="brown"> </font> /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I don't think you will find many folks here who have opened their engines up. If you need parts or even some pages from a manual, contact Tractor Smart You will need to supply your model number and they will send you a pdf file with all the info for your tractor. They are great for parts too!

I had to put new rods, pistons and rings in my Kubota l2500dt so I know what your talking about on the price thing. It was a little over 700.00 dollars. In my shop I have a manual and can scan and send you a copy of timing proceedure if it would help you............rc

Just curious... how many hours are on these engines that you are rebuilding.

The reason that I ask is that I have read in discussions that Kubota diesel engines should run around 8000 hours before rebuild is required.

this diesel engine only had 1400 hrs on and had a sudden crank failur problem related to heat treatment of crank shaft i have heard kubotas running in 8000 hr range and longer depending on service and work loads.

The engine that I had to work on only had 300 hrs. The previous owner had run it through a pond and took water into the intake and bent two rods. When the shortened rod came down it broke the bottom off of one of the pistons. Figured I might as well put all of the rods rings and pistons in it while I was at it......rc
