My manual for a 336 states that after the gov. linkage is disconnected, all you have to do is push the control rack to left and pull your pump. Pushing rack to left is supposed to give the nipple room to clear block.
This was not the case for my tractor. I had to remove the two studs that hold on fuel pump and rotate the pump 90 degrees counter clockwise to allow the "nipple" to clear block.
