Tire ballast 911

The problem here is in lifting the wheel entirely the ground.
The weight of the liquid is breaking the bead, keep the tire touching the ground, problem solved.

I thought Chris said that the tire de beaded actually before he ever put any liquid in it from just letting the air pressure out.

Hey. Just a thought. I'm gonna post the rim and tire size. Can you guys confirm these make sense. I find when I let the air out the beed immediately sucks inward about 1/2" - 3/4" per side.

Rim. 19.5x12.25
Tire. 15-19.5

I tried it every way. On the ground. Off the ground. Ratchet straps. The whole 9 yards. Soon as the tire gets below 5-6 psi she unseals.

it has happened so many times now i am surprised that it will take a bead all. He needs to put the tire back on and drive it a bit to get it fully seated before the next attempt.

Hey all,
Rick is correct, do not lift tire off the floor. The weight of the fluid going in will break the bead every time. Leave it on the ground with the weight supported enough to keep the shape of the tire when full of air and don't let it sag. Think of a water balloon, the weight of the water changes the whole shape of the balloon or tire. You will never get it to fill with it off the ground. Second, you have to maintain a little pressure in the tire to help keep it's shape. The pump will build up pressure as it fills which you will have to bleed off as you go.
This is really something you have to learn by doing. With the correct equipment it normally takes about 20 minutes a tire to fill and set your pressures.
Good Luck

Hey Soundguy how frequent do you get flats? I am estimating my machine will only see 50 hours a year and on a very small property. I'd be surprised if I got a flat.

I imagine all but 1-2 of my machines are tube type.. and I have, on average, 1 flat per year or less.. IE.. some years no flats.... usually a front. rear flats are quite more rare as the tire casings are so thick and tough. the recent rear flat I has was in a less tough, thinner turf tire.

mind you.. I'm running everything from new rims, tires and tubes.. to 50 year old tires, tube and rims.. :) if I break anything down for new tires or tubes I always clean and paint and seal the rim and remove rust.. etc.. new tubes, unless i'm in a real pinch, in which case I will patch a good looking newish tube. tires.. I generally run till they are useless..
