Good day,

Just got a set of rear tire chains for my 1215 and wanted to know whats the best way to put them on? I have 29x12x15 rear turf & field tires (firestone) and I ordered the chains for this size tire. The chains I recived seem to be a few links to long. Is it normal for them to be this way or do I need to trim a few links off? Also its rather hard to get the chains on tight. Seems the best way is to jack up the rear and put them on Vs driving over them. I also have the spring tensioners but feel I should be able to get the chains tight enough to use with out them. Thanks for your input.

I recently got chains for my B7800 w/R-4s. I found that the easiest way to install them was to jack up one side and leave tranny in neutral. then you put one end over the top of the tire and rotate it until the entire chain is mounted. I had a couple of extra links, too. You can cut them off (obviously, don't cut from the end with the fastening hardware!) or just tuck the end back. I use the thick (not bungee) rubber tension straps to tension them.

Hope this helps.

I find the easiest way to put the chains on is to lay them out and drive onto them. If they are really heavy you can use a bungie to hook them to the tire , pulling the chain up and onto the tire.
I would not cut any links until you are positive that you don't want it. I find using two bungie's on each tire helps keep them tight.

Hope this makes sense and helps!
