This is my first year with the LB1914 for snow removal. I am wondering if chains are needed or not. Also, can you use chains on the front wheels, or just the back?

Along the NH seacoast almost every snowstorm either begins or ends with rain. I find it difficult to push wet heavy snow on slopes without chains. It either won't push at all or will have poor directional control. Dry snow is no problem w/o chains unless you're on ice, i.e. a dirt drive with previously packed frozen snow. If you get chains you have to be wary of tire slippage as the chains will eat into hot top fairly quickly. You may want to start with front chains only, cheaper & easier to remove/install. MikeD74T

I'm in snow country south of Buffalo NY I have a 150 yard long drive that is uphill all the way. I do snow removal with a DK35 with the rear tires loaded. I moved as much as 36" at a time without chains. If I were to use chains, I'd never use them on the front tires, everything I've ever read warns against it.

There are different types of style cahins...regulars to ice chains and meaner looking ones....good set of rear chains I don't believe you need front chains,not unless your travel steep slopes etc..
Chains for me,for its and added bite of protection.

If you do go for chains make sure they have enough laders for a smooth ride on hard ground.
Really what I'm trying to say is " choose chains that will give a smooth ride on hard ground " Just ask me how I know this.

Well I did hear strange noise but realize it was the Mrs. clean my work shop....give more details or maybe thread number,and I promise not to share it w/anybody on TBN.
