I am planning to buy a new tractor in the next couple of months. Long story short, after careful consideration and shopping, I'll likely be getting a kioti CK 2610 HST.
I am having a pretty tough time making up my mind on tires, and dealers seem to be pushing the R4 which is what they have in stock. I have seen similar discussions and have read through the threads; however, there seems to be somewhat contradictory information and I want to run through my particular situation without the pressure of what's on the lot influencing the advice.
The primary uses for the tractor will be gravel road maintenance, snow removal from the gravel/dirt roads, as well as assorted landscaping projects (mostly over finished lawn).
I have 4 acres, which is mostly finished. >2 are lawn which I mow with a zero turn, the majority of the remainder are a hay field which I also mow with the zero turn, however it is quite bumpy and I may opt to mow it less frequently with the tractor. In a fairly complicated arrangement, I will be grading/maintaining ~1/3-1/2 mile of gravel roads, and also light brush hogging of an additional 1-2 acres. I will want to use the tractor for projects and moving materials over the finished lawn areas without doing significant damage. I live in a pretty wet area and near a lake, and the lawn tends to be pretty soft both in the spring and the fall.
With all of this considered, what is your recommendation? If there wasn't so much road work involved it seems like the answer would be turf tires. I have a friend with the same tractor with R4s 10 miles away with similar conditions, and he often cannot go on the lawn because the R4's will tear it up. I have spoken with kioti and R14 will be available, likely in the coming months, on the CK 2610. I have tried to read into The R14s and have not seen too much in the way of user reviews, but at least based on the sales info, they seem to be easier on turf than an R4 and likely a good compromise for me?
I guess some questions that I'm looking to answer are the following:
1. Will turf tires be disappointing/inadequate for the road grading and associated loader work? Are they really that likely to be punctured during bush hogging?
2. Is there reason to believe that the R14 would be a best case scenario for what I'm describing? If they are easier on turf than R4s, particularly in the wet, and sturdier than turf tires, this seems like a good compromise of what I am looking for.
