Ok... so I'm posting this for my father-in-law, but he has a bit of a challenge and is looking for ideas.
My father-in-law is modifying his JD 7000 planter and would like to change the engage/disengage of the implement. Like most planters it is engaged/disengaged by the wheels on the individually units themselves, but he would like to change that to a contact drive system/wheel to wheel contact drive. This would allow for the chains to be up and away from the debris when running across the field.
JD does not make a kit for this, nor does Case. Kinze has been using this technology for decades as they have called it their "Contact Drive System". JD's most recent planters have the "Tyre Drive System" which is similar to Kinze. I have not found a 3rd party that would be able to provide parts for this challenge.
My father-in-law is looking for ideas and/or options to make this tire drive system available on his planter. He is willing to make any modifications needed, but was unsure if there was a kit or product made that would simply mount to the planter with the correct gearing.
Thanks,
Jerry
