Our MNR biologist had a fit when I suggested doing that to cure the erosion along our driveway. (It was washing into the lake)
You could lay them down and pour them full of concrete, embedding a pole into them for a flagpole, or as bases for polebarn poles, etc. They could then be moved and reused in future (if you have a big enough loader). We used to do much the same with car tires on a smaller scale.
