I have been told by my Kubota service department to get a tire gauge for handling liquid filled tires, however, they were a bit vague as to where to purchase such a gauge. Up until now, I have just been rotating my rear tires until the tire valve stem is in the 12 o'clock position, but I was told by the service department that trying to use a "standard" tire guage for this purpose would lead to inaccurate pressure readings. I am not quite sure why that would be, but in any case, I am trying to find a source for such a specialty tire gauge. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Don

like you said rotate the valve to the top of the tire and use a regular guage.................this aint rocket science /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You can use a regular gauge, but it probably won't last long or be very accurate very long. I think most auto parts stores and even Walmart have the air/liquid gauges.

Most auto parts store can get them. Milton is one brand that I know of. However, even with the correct guage it is important to flush them with clean water if you get any fluid in them. Just put the big end in a container of water and stroke the guage in and out a few times to flush the salt or other fluid out. Otherwise the fluid will dry and leave residue inside and then the next time you go to use it will be junk. The main difference between a "tractor tire" gauge and regular tire gauge is the spring loaded indicator that sticks out under pressure. The tractor guage will retract as soon as the gauge is removed from the valve stem. You must read the gauge while it is pressed onto the valve stem. A regular gauge will stay out until you push it back in.

Don -- I just put the valve at 12 o'clock and press the lever to pump air as I put the gage over the valve stem. That initial blast of air displaces any liquid in the valve.
