Ford 4600
I have a Ford 4600 with 7.50/16 with three ribbed tires. These tires are cutting deep and wide regardless of how slow/shallow I turn in sandy loam soil.

Local tire man says truck tire will help. Any suggestions on a tractor tire that works well in this soil? Will the truck tire fix work as well?

I'd sure try the truck tire thing - if you have problems with that - you could also get aircraft tires from a place in Houston. ... Genesco ... i think.

Truck tires will work fine. If unit has a loader, load capacity of truck tires is higher than tractor tires, so you get added benefit there. Have put truck tires on front of 2wd units several times, no problems.

BTW, check the highway mowers, almost all of them will have truck tires on the fronts.

Hope this helps.

You can also try 4 rib tires as they give you steering still but don't put all the front weight on a single rib.

Another advantage of truck tires is the thicker casing that resists thorns better. 3-rib tires seem to attract them magnetically.
