I have a '94 JD LT166. I've had two flats lately. I sprayed the foam tire repair stuff in them and it worked great, but I'm wondering how long these tires last. I won't wear the tread out because they are on grass all the time, but tires age.

So how long before tires need replaced even if there's tread left? I keep the tractor in the garage.

Cliff, tires do age somewhat, but they are generally good until either the tread wears off or until they get "weather cracked" and the most common cause of weather cracking is leaving them sitting in the sun. If yours is stored in out of the sun when not in use . . . well, I don't know how long they'll last, but I'll guess 10 years or more.

The tires on my MTD are 13 years old and filled with sealant. They are still in very good shape tread-wise and the side walls show little sign of wear.

Thanks guys,
I was hoping that by putting in sealent when I get a leak I could make them last a long time.

Put tubes in them, better than the sealant stuff. Just make sure there is nothing sticking thru the tire on the inside that will puncture the tube.

I finally had to change the rear tires on my Gravely 812 rider. It is a 1973 model, the tires were the origional tires. The tires had plenty of tread the sidewalls just rotted out. These were Goodyear tires not the current Chinese imports, so do not expect the same life out of a NanKang tire.

More tire stuff.
My last RV the tires started cracking over the years. After 5 years I went to buy new tires and the tire dealer gave me a nice lesson.
If the cracks are just cracks and there's no buldges, etc. the problem is only a cosemetic thing and the tire will be fine.
NEVER use Armour All on tires. It pulls the oils of the tire to the surface and the sun sucks the oil from the tire causing it to dry rot. Use only tire cleaners.

My Kubota G5200 is about 20 years old now and has three of the four original tires. One front tire had to be replaced from a large puncture in the sidewall that could not be repaired.. My fault...

Dad's '65 Sears Suburban 12 still has the original front tires. The tubes have been replaced though. I think he put new rear ag tires on it about 6 years ago. One reason it still has the original front tires is that the size isn't made anymore. He can order some sizes close, but not quite the same. He is worried about messing up the mowing.
