L S XG 3025
Hello,:

I did a search and didn't find any good replies , I have a LS 3025 with ballast in the tires from dealer
the pressure was 20 lbs in the front and 15 lbs in the rear , the front tires show 50lbs max and the rear shows
30 lbs max is there a ball park to run the tire pressure with ballast

Thanks for any replies

I run closer to 40 in front. Any less and I worry about beads breaking on heavy loader work. My loaded rears I run about 15. More than 20 and tires look over inflated and don't leave a full contact pattern in soft soil or snow.

Most manuals will say to run the same pressure in ballasted tires as you would without ballast. In other words inflate as normal. As to what that "normal" should be, you will get as many answers as there are people answering that question. I tend to run about 40 lbs in my fronts and about 20 in my rear tires or where the rear tires "look good" on pavement. In other words making a near full contact patch on the pavement. But like the above poster, I am worried about running low pressure in the front tires as I do a lot of loader work and with full loads of stone I don't want to roll the bead.

I have R-1 tires both front & rear. So...... max on the front is 30. It can get a tad dicey with a heavy load in the grapple. So far - with five years of grapple use, I've not yet unseated the beads on the front tires.

The rears are loaded with RimGuard. Every spring and again in the fall - run the tractor out on a concrete hard portion of the gravel driveway. Just checking to see that the rears make full contact across the chevrons. I would guess the rears run at or around 15 psi.

If your tractor has 11.2 x 24 tires listed as standard for that model the rear tires have a max rating of 2090 pounds at 26 psi max pressure.

If your tractor has the standard 7 x 14 front tire it’s max rating is 785 pounds at 24 psi max pressure. You can go lower tire pressures with reduced load capability but the pressure are the Tire and Rim Association max inflation pressures for the tire sizes Tractor Data shows as standard for your tractor.

My owners manual gives a range of inflation for a Ford 4000, 26-30 psi in front and 15-20 psi in rears. These are for 7.5x16 fronts and 13.6x38 rears. I don't know if this varies by tire size. The manual for the NAA lists 28 psi for the 6.0x16 fronts and 14 psi for the 12.4x28 rears. The same pressure is given for both ballasted and non ballasted tires.

New guy here, so bear with me. I had to lower the pressure in my rear tires due to bouncing and a very rough ride plus poor traction. I did not measure the tire pressure. I was also only using the center tread on the tire. This is a new tractor filled with water in the tires as ballast. What I did was use a tape measure and let water out until I had a full tread patch on the pavement. I did make sure both sides were at the same height, 34.5" at the top of the rim. Nice ride and great traction. Great thread.
