Hey Folks, New to the forum. I have a 1700 that I have owned for 8 years. Like to know what pressure to run in my back tires. They are NOT turf tires they are regular tractor tires. Do they have water in them? thanks for the help.

To check for water in the tire roll it until the valve core is at the bottom of the tire and depress the valve in the stem. If water or air cones out then you know. For me when working a
plowed field I run a little less air to increase the number of lugs in the dirt. On hills I want the tires inflated more for better stability. I just try to keep them both the same.

What psi should they be. Mostly bushhog and use my grader box a little. Land is almost all flat. Thanks.

Welcome to Tractorbynet. In my opinion, the best way to determine the proper air pressure is to experiment by adjusting the pressure to get a full footprint; i.e., the tread touching the ground all the way across. You can do it just by looking at the tire, but another good way is to drive it through some water on a flat concrete surface then onto dry concrete and look at your tracks. I suppose it sometimes varies with the type of tires you have and the weight of the tractor, but on my B2710 I ran 12 psi. And I found that one of my farmer neighbors with 3 John Deeres in the 100hp range also ran 12 psi in his.

Back when I had my 1700 I checked it out pretty well, and this what I found out for them. The fronts should be between 26# and 46#, and the rears should be between 12# and 23#. It depends on what you are doing with them. If you have a lot of weight on them you go for the high numbers, if just the tractor without a fel, or bush hog, or blade or what ever, then go for the lowest numbers. I did that in the 3 years I had mine and it worked out real good.

On my YM2000 I have 440 lbs of wheel weights on the rear and run 18 psi. On the front I have a 50 lbs brush guard and 230 lbs of wheel weights and run 30psi. Flat land only.
