Tire question

Have an older B6100 4wd with 8.3-16 rears and 7-14 fronts, both ags. Would like to switch to R4 tires for better stability and less impact on the lawn.

Can anyone provide a suggestion as to where I can find R4 tires of this size or information as to alternative size tires I might be able to use, with or without changing rims.

You should be able to find a local tire dealer that can take care of you. You can check with a Kubota dealer to find out who they work with. Tires are one of the few things that dealers don't want to sell you so they are usually happy to refer to you to a tire place. If that doesn't get you anywhere, call a tire place or two and get referrals that way.

The place I go to handles whatever I need. You should have no problem finding new tires for your existing rims, and changing tread patterns is no big deal at all. Not sure if R-4s will provide better stability than ags, but they shouldn't be as bumpy of a ride at least. Definately easier on the lawn though. If traction isn't to big of an issue for you, turf tires are also available for tractors, which are pretty easy on grass. We run turfs on all the tractors at work, and on the 4WD machines don't have too much trouble with traction. Ain't as good as ags, for sure, but acceptable for most stuff.

I agree w/Chris post about turf tires,and you can always pick up set of tire chains.

If you decide to go w/R4's make sure you have enough room in case you decide tire chains are needed later on.
