Ford 7710 II FWA, NH TB110 FWA w/ NH 46LB loader, JD 5303 2wd w/ loader
Just had my newly purchased Ford 7710 II 1990 w/ FWA unloaded at my local dealers lot. I am very pleased so far. I did not really pay much attention to the tire size when I purchased the tractor on Tractorhouse. Upon arrival, I noticed that the tires looked smaller than other 7710's I have seen. Also, one of the mechanics noted how low the steps are to the ground. I think this tractor came from flat farm ground but I have some pretty hilly and uneven terain here in NE Texas. The rears are 18.4 - 30 and the fronts are 18.4 - 24. All tires are in good condition with approx. 85% tread remaining and no apparent patches. My questions are:

1) Is this a proper "ratio" size of tire for FWA usage?
2) What would be a more common size front and rear tire for this tractor?
3) If I were to decide to put new tires on this tractor, would there be a market for the ones presently on mine, so that I could help offset the cost of a new set?

I've had a few 7710's and they all had 16.9 38 on the rear and i can't quite remember but i think the fronts were 16.9 26....

What would be the potential results of operating the FWA if the tires were not properly matched to the front and rear ratios??

The ratio is probably right..to put the little wheels on the back the 24's on the front are probably right....If it's wrong you'l see the tyres "kick" a bit.. no problem in 2wd but will eventually do damage in 4wd.

My 7710-II had 34" rear tires but was 2wd so I can't say anything about the fronts. I am wondering if he has a special use 7710 that was used for right of way mowing or something similar where they wanted to lower the center of gravity.

Buying an operator's manual for your new tractor will answer most of your questions.

I've seen 2wd's with 16.9x30's used in this application.

It is one of the few applications I can think of where shorter tires would be an advantage. The other would be if you needed to use the tractor in a low headroom area like a barn or orchard.
