I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the combination of Tire Slime and Rim Guard. I recently had to fill 2 tires (one front and one rear) with Slime due to a puncture. I am planning to take my 2920 in to have service work done.
My question... Can I still add Rim Guard to the rear tires if they have slime in them or will it dilute allowing the air and Rim Guard out? Or will I need to rinse the slime out, have the tire patched and then filled with ballast. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Around here the tire company that does the Rimguard puts tubes in the tires when they put Rimguard in.. If you have holes in your tires plugged by Slime then I would say you need to have the punctures properly sealed before the Rimguard goes in as it is sticky, thick substance similar to molasses. Had a hole in the rear tire two months ago and had to replace the tube from damage caused by an old hand drawn nail and it cost more for the pumping then to replace the tube. Also you do not want to lose fluid at several dollars a gallon cost. also had a little issue with after remounting the tire after repair, it did slip a little due to spilt rimguard being on the bead surface until it finaly dried out.

Having rimgaurd in my tires now, I shudder at the thought of mixing of slime and rimgaurd. I know you said slime is already there, but it might be in your best interests just to add tubes to get away from the hole you had and slime mess and have rimgaurd not mix with that stuff. Remember, slime has a shelf life of 5 years or something like that as per thier website. IF your slime patch fails at 5 years or less and the rimgaurd leaks - (shudder) you will lose the hard earned money onto the ground. :( Just have the tire technicain to break down the tire to inspect the hole to make sure the metal belt hasn't broken through the hole and make a new hole in the new tubes you would put in.

I know , I know, all this is gonna cost money. It's just that beet juice cost more then the labor for checking the tires. ;)

Thanks for the input! I'm actually going to call the companies to see what they recommend. I do agree that my best bet may be to patch the tire correctly, and then have the Rim Guard added to a set of tubes. I'll keep you posted!

Why I wouldn't fill tires.

Why I wouldn't fill tires.

Well the BX and the G do npt have filled tires but the GL3130 does. Even with the hoe on the back some of the logs I lift will make the rear wheels light. Everybody has different needs and sometimes you do need to fill them.
