Hello,
About 4 years ago I bought a used 2002 New Holland TC35D. It has 10 x 16.5 R4 front tires and is 4WD. The right front tire had a tube in it when I bought it, tire looks good, but it had a tube. I got down in a mud hole at one point and something in the hole ripped out the tube valve.....tire went flat !!! So I took it to my tire place and I asked them if they could find the hole or holes and just plug them so I wouldn't have to run a tube. They plugged 2 holes and it held air but in the time since has always had a slow leak....must not have found all the holes!!!! I am tired of constantly having to put air in the tire before I use the tractor. So in doing some research I found that there are metal valve tubes available with lock nuts (I think they are called TR218) that would make the valve more resistant to being damaged. Could someone enlighten me about these tubes. I seem to have a hard time finding one online in the right size and am also not sure how the locknuts are supposed to be positioned.....2 on outside or 1 out and one in !!!! My tire place guys say that my rim would take a TR15 valve because it has the larger hole size, but they are just rubber, not metal. So do metal valve tubes come in the right size for my rim ???? Are they worth bothering with, or just go rubber? I have a lots of questions with no one to give me correct answers......can someone help me with their knowledge ????? Thanks ahead of time !!!!!!

Talk to a local dealer, maybe they can help. I have metal on my 3000, but can’t say it’s any better. I also have tubes and would never want tubeless on my tractors. There’s no guarantee a metal valve stem wouldn’t have failed under the same situation, I wouldn’t put too much thought into it.

Search 'skidsteer metal valve stem'. Your tires are same size as many, many skidsteers. Ebay, Gemplers, etc. have steel and brass also short stem.
Nut goes on outside, rubber base on stem seals inside rim.
Also, look at industrial tire sealant found at Gemplers for one.

Why not just find the leak and fix it. Spray bottle with a good long squeeze of dish soap is real effective.

You can do what they do for heavy equiptment and weld a metal pipe onto the rim around the hole to deflect any brush or things that may hit it. you can go as for to make the top side of the pipe threaded and put a pipe cap on it thay needs a pipe wrench to undo and your vavle stems will never give trouble.

he would still have to do this with a new vavle stem. He is tired of adding air but also fears the valves are a weak point.
