Hi everybody I am new to this, I do not own a tractor although I used to use one as a kid, it was a 1940's ford from what I remember and loved it.

Some may think it is ridiculous to buy a riding lawn mower for .34 acres of grass but I am tired of push mowers, the time it takes to cut, and now the fact that I may have a permanent limp to my leg that was crushed and torn ligaments and tendons in April. :(
No joke it took me over 2 hours to mow the darn thing with my problem.
Other reason for wanting a riding mower.... because they are cool!

Oh and I plan on using it for snow removal I do have long stretches of walkways and driveway.

I do have a budget but the option to finance a Kubota or JD are available making it easier to buy one.

Reviews for JD X300 seem a bit negative with trannie issues and starter problems.

Reviews for Kubota 1880 and 2080 are high.

Is this to big for what I need it for? I just want something that will last FOREVER and get the job done as fast as possible. My grandfather has a riding mower with 5 acres and has had it for 40 years. Runs like a Swiss watch.

The only reason why I am looking at the X300's and Kubota's is I figure the "beefier" model will last longer. I like buying things one time. If I have to buy another one sooner, I look at it as "why the heck didn't I just buy the better model in the first place".

In terms of price I do have a budget. Kubota offers a 0% APR financing which makes it more appealing for monthly payments. I would prefer to buy American but the funny thing is JD has a kawasaki engine and Kubota I think has an American made? Am I wrong on this?

Are their other reliable brands out there that someone could steer me to?

Thanks for your help!

Oh I forgot to mention that JD offers 0% apr but it is for a shorter period of time which is why I am considering Kubota. Thanks again

Sorry I don't have experience with the size you are looking to buy, but the Kubotas mentioned as well as the BX, ZD and RTV are made in Gainsville, GA. A lot of John Deere components as well as tractors are made overseas.

My experience is that both companies make good equipment.

You might also want to post in the lawn garden section.

Good luck.

For small areas like your .34 acres, try the Deere X304. I used one this past week and they are very manuverable, quiet, the seat is comfortable and leaves a great looking cut. Plus a 4 year warranty!

Snow removal...plow or snow blower?..cab or no cab?
HP range..18 to24?
Seems to be JD has the market for your needs..least in our area..take take spin at both dealers.

thank you for the info! I will repost in garden section. I'll take a look at that x304 as well. I would prefer a thrower for snow removal and not really concerned about have a cab.
Thanks again!

thank you I was just looking at the 324. I just wish the financing for it was like kubota. I am going to go with a JD and most likely 324. Kubota doesn;t mention if they have attachments unless I am looking in the wrong area of their website. Thanks again for everybody's help. On a side note my father is looking to buy a heavy duty jd of some sort so maybe he should join this site. It's nice to see others helping out other people.

John Deere is a very good brand. You will not do wrong with either Deere or Kubota. Kubota has partnered up with Land Pride for most of their attachments and Kubota will finance the implements along with the tractor, 0% for 60 months. Here is Land Prides site:

With just 0.34 acres the OP would probably have a BBM (Big Box Mart) rider last a long time; so I think an entry level 'X' series will last forever, even with the girly-man tranny it has.

Kubota does make both a front blade and snow blower for their garden tractors. Go to build my kubota, select your machine of choice, and configure with attachments. Which ever you choose, be sure to post pictures.
