A while back I posted about the front tires on my 3510i cracking around the lugs.

It came back from the dealer yesterday (complimentary 50 hr service, including 64 miles hauling...) with two new complimentary Titan fronts on it. They appear to be a little different tread-wise than the "tractionmasters" it came with. I hope they work/wear well. They look great!

Bottom line - I'm happy :)

Love the tractor, love my dealer...

They could have been defective but it could have been caused by under inflation also . The constant flexing of the lugs will crack the casings at the bottom of the lugs and on the sidewalls at the ends of the lugs . Tyres should be inflated so the wall does not bulge out and so the tread sits flat on the ground . Tyre pressure means little as tractor weights vary , especially when fitted with a loader .

Good point, I can sure notice the difference when I remove the mower in the fall. Without the weight on the back the front tires look to need air.

You're right, but in this case the cracking was noticed at 6 hrs on the clock. Proper pressure was maintained. The other tractors on the lot had some pretty major weather checking/cracking in the sidewalls of the fronts, and they were still new on the lot. The dealer explained to me at the time that they'd gotten some crappy tires in, and that they would be replaced upon tractor purchase. The cracking on my tires was in the center of the tread, surrounding the tread blocks. I cannot remember for sure, but I don't think I even got a single response when I originally posted, asking if others had had any issues with their tires. The Dealer made good on his promise to replace, and that's what I was relating.

Bottom line is that the "Tractionmaster," designed in USA, made in ROC tires ain't all that. I just hope the rears, which appear to be suffering no ill effects, continue their yeoman service.

Lunk sounds like you have a good dealer.

So far, so good. I hope to not need his fine service often, except to purchase implements which will compliment my tractor purchase....

:D

That was a problem with the tires, we replaced several of them under warranty when I was a Branson dealer.

How would you feel about cracks like this? This is a front tire, the tractor has about 50 hours and was purchased late last summer.

The grains in the rubber in that photo look to me like they are using recycled rubber in thier tyres (left click on expanded photo) . It makes good floor mats for horse trailers but would be no good for tyres (if that is what they have done).
