I have been thinking about getting a set of R1 tires for my 3720 (if I decide to keep it). As you may recall, earlier this year my local dealer had a 3320 with R1 tires, and they were interested in trading out those for R4 tires. We swapped out wheels and I tried the JD 11.2x24 R1's. I noticed the traction difference when pulling a box blade, etc., but I did not like the stability on hills as much and I wanted more contact patch for loader use, i.e, the tire deformed some when using with a heavy load in front. Although this is silly, I also did not like the looks of them, as they seemed too narrow. So, after trying them two weeks I opted to go back with my R4 tires. These tires do fine, but there are times I would like to go R1. I noticed on the Galaxy tire site that they make a 14.6x24 rear tire and I am sure they also make a 15x19.5 tire in ag style tread. I have read in the owners manual from JD that "the tires are carefully selected to match the tracking and load requirements" and then some lingo that essentially states one should not get any other tire other than what is spec'd stock. My question is, can I go with an R1 pattern using my existing wheels, or does JD or another company offer a legitimate OEM replacement tire for either my current rim or the 24" rim that would work and not result in issues for the tractor??? Are there any hidden problems that could result from considering such a replacement??? Thanks in advance.
