I believe I read on this forum not to bother trying to buy tires from JD. Thought I would give it a try just for grins. Was getting some parts for my little LT 133 riding mower and asked about tires. I was quoted 75 bucks for each front tire and 150 bucks for each rear tire for a total of 450 bucks for tires for a riding mower. Needless to say I passed on the deal. Seems like the parts man was even embarrassed.

Heck my local tire shop got me some OEM tires for the front of my 4400 about 2 weeks ago. I forget how much they cost but as always they were reasonable. I love my tire shop. :D

After lookin' thru a number of posts here on TBN -- on the big three manufacturers -- JD, Kubota and NH (haven't looked at Massey much); it seems that the majors are mostly unashamed to charge "over-the-top" prices for even the minor parts.

Bolts, washers, tires, oil (hydraulic and motor), filters, etc. You can expect that you're gonna pay top dollar for their name on the box!

Of course, it takes some homework and cross-checking to be certain that a particular bolt or filter is the right one for your particular tractor. Many times, you need it right now and don't have the time to do the extra leg work...

That's a "Gotcha"! And on the major components... well, you don't have many options, if any at all, and sometimes it can almost... almost make you wish that Mahindra and Kioti cut just a slice more out of their market share -- you know; the backside part!!

Your 15x6.5 - 6 fronts and 20x10 - 8 rears can be found at TSC or Farm & Fleet or even eBay. Problem is getting them changed. The dealer price may include changing them. Actualy once you are told a few things you can change them fairly easily. Remember there are tubes in there. Even breaking the bead free of the rim has a secret decoder ring trick.
