Like many others, I have spent a lot of time searching through the excellent information on 3rd function valves for adding a grapple as well as rear remotes. I have a 2000 TN65 with super steer and a 33LA bucket. The tractor came with 2 rear remotes that look like they were plumbed directly into the same block that the FEL is plumbed into (see picture). I have been trying to work with the dealer to get pricing on a 3rd function valve so that I can add a grapple but the dealer says that he can't tell by the pictures and needs me to bring the tractor in (which is a real hassle).

Based on the replies in this forum, I thought you might be able to offer some thoughts as to my best options for adding a 3rd function. Can I just tee into the rear remotes? I didn't think so because it looks like the way the rear remotes are plumbed they may have constant pressure.

Also, I added a picture of the joystick control that seems to already have an extra button, possibly to control a 3rd function (?), but I'm not sure IMG_2348.JPGTN Joystick.JPG.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

If your hyd system is open center hydraulics, you can add a 3rd function anywhere in the series flow path.

You can not tee in the flow path.

Look in your manual and see how the button is used.

J.J., thank you for your reply! The summary information says that the hydraulics are open, so that should be helpful. When considering a 3rd function valve what are your thoughts on adding another control valve block to the back of the tractor (see picture)?View attachment 3 REMOTE VALVES - CONTROL VALVES - Image.bmpView attachment 3 REMOTE VALVES - CONTROL VALVES - Image.bmp. Does it looks like another control block could be added to the stack in the back? My apologies for such basic questions but I'm just a wannabe without much mechanical experience. Basically, that means I need pretty detailed instructions and then I can generally get it right after the 3rd or 4th try.

Unfortunately, the factory manual doesn't provide the details on the joystick button, and I thought someone on the forum could shed some light on its use.

Thanks again!

If you knew the manufacturer, you could order and install additional valves to the stack.

You could also install a different manufacturers valve in series with the flow.

How can I tell if I have PB? The local dealer said he would have to look at the machine in order to determine. Do I need to have PB in order to plumb in the additional valve for a grapple? What about if I wanted to add more rear remotes?

Thanks.

So, I just talked to the guys at WR Long and told me that based on the way the FEL is plumbed (with the hoses going to the back of the tractor) that I don't have a PB. I think that means that I can only add a diverter valve and not a true 3rd function. Does that sound right?

J.J., thanks for the link to the catalogue. Any recommendations on a diverter valve kit? Apparently, WR Long does not have a stock kit for a TN65 with a 33LA loader.

Is there anyone who knows the difference between the 32LA and 33LA NH loaders? If they are similar enough, then I can use the kit for the 32LA.

Thanks J.J.

Any thoughts on the differences between the valve in your link and the one at WR Long? I think the WR Long valve is made by Rexroth.

If anyone has mounted a selector valve on a TN65 or similar model, I would appreciate some pictures. From what I can tell, the selector valve is mounted onto a steel plate on the loader - 2 hoses go in and 4 come out. The solenoid is then wired up the joystick. Is it really that simple? Am I missing anything?

Also, I would appreciate any suggestions for root grapples. We have some land that has become overgrown so we are cutting down trees and vines as well as moving some leftover building materials from the previous owner. We aren't moving a lot of rocks. The soil ranges from sandy to compacted topsoil. I was originally looking at a grapple with 2 jaws but some people have mentioned that a clam shell may work better.

My apologies for my ignorance on these valves. J.J., the valve that you referenced is about $159 and then doing another search based on the Fasse parts catalogue you posted I found the Fasse 700-5012-4080 Universal Bucket Control valve (with wiring but no hoses) for $529 at Fasse 7-512-4:D Universal Bucket Control Valve Kit

I'm not sure if this is the correct Fasse diverter as the gpm may be a little high for my 7.2 gpm system. Is this a comparable "name brand' equivalent?

Is this a get what you pay for type of thing? Again, thanks for your patience!
