Hi everybody. Used my TN 65 to mow the fields last week and everything was working fine. Went out to the barn this morning and turned the key and nothing.

The battery checks fine at 12.46 volts. When I turn the key the bat, oil pressure and parking light come on.

It is acting like one of the safety switches is not working. I can find the one on the PTO but I'm not sure if I can get to it to check it. Would the PTO light on the dash light if that switch was failing? (Saying the PTO is engaged even when it is not)

Does anybody know where the switch is located on the
mechanical shuttle? I can't seem to locate that one at all. Or does anybody know of a test point located somewhere easy to reach on the tractor?

Are those the only two safety switches?

Any other suggestions or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Keith

The switch for the shuttle is right next to the pto switch. I just had this problem with mine. The easiest way is to pull the back left tire and then it only takes a minute to pull the switch and replace it. They are not that much money so just buy one and try the pto switch first. If she doesn't start replace the pto switch with the shuttle switch and try it again. The hardest part was taking the tire off which isn't that hard (just have some help if it is filled as you can handle it but it is not safe to do alone).

My dad kept trying to find a way to get at the switch without removing the tire but the only way you can do it is to dismantle half the tractor.

Thanks Robert,

I found the shuttle switch and the problem was the wire was knocked off by a stick. Connected it back up and all is well. Apperently I missid the switch while climbing under the tractor from the left side. But later, when I slid under from the right and looked up a long the transmission as I passed under it, it was kind of obvious where it was. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I did manage to get my hands up there without taking the tire off but I was praying the switch was still good as I don't think I could of gotten a wrench in there to turn it. Also, I wasn't really in the mood to wrestle with a loaded rear.

Thanks Again

Keith

You can change the switch by going down through the PTO lever slot with a 22mm wrench, then going in from the rear with a hand. To answer your other question, if the PTO switch were at fault, the PTO icon on the dash may or may not be lit when you key up the tractor. It is a dual contact switch. If it were out of adjustment or falsely activated the icon would be lit. If the normally closed contacts went open, the icon would not light, but the tractor would not crank.

Thanks Rick, that is a good information on changing the shuttle switch. I'll keep that in mind if I ever have to replace it.
