I moved my seat all the way up and now can't get it to go back. The lever only lifts up and should release the seat to slide. The owners manual says pull the lever to the side. It won't go to the side. I don't want to break it. I sprayed the tracks as best I could with WD-40. Please help...it's killing my knees!!! Thanks in advance for your help. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If you are sitting on the seat, pull up on the lever (at least on my model TN which is a 2000). When you pull up you have to release the pressure from your legs to let it slide down. It should slide very easily.

Mine was a little tough to use at first too. Check to make sure all plastic and manuals are clear from seat area too. I was struggling with my lever until I looked under seat and removed a piece of plastic that had been left there by dealer causing a bind in the sliders. I went from cursing tractor seat to cursing dealer /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I did check and there's nothing under there. Called the service guy and he said that 1 out of 10 seats have this problem. (My life story). I got the 1. Told me there was nothing I could do, but to bring it by and he would fix it. I've tried everything except taking the dang thing off.

That seat adjustment design has to be the worst I've ever seen. I broke the lever off once and it was something like $30. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I asked about it and they replaced it under warranty. The best way to get it to slide down is to be 6'4'' and be driving it down the road and it'll drop on it's own. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif You have to look up underneath to make sure it's locked and unlocked. Getting it to slide back up is another joy, I've had to beat on the bottom of the sliding section with a hammer to get it the seat up. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif That was right after it decided to drop going down the road. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif The tech said it was one in ten seats with problems, eh? That must be how many people actually use the adjustment after they set it initially. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Your book said to move the lever sideways? They must have a serviceable method on the European tractor and send the junk to North America. I couldn't either one listed in my Owner's Manual. My lever goes up and down, it's on a 2001 TN 65.

If it's a new tractor you should tell the dealer to send someone out. Why should you "bring it by"?

A good dealer would send someone out to you.

It's a little over a year on the 2 yr warranty. I would think when they have someone up my way they could come by. I've posted before on why the dealer I used should not be used. Several things besides this.

Motorjock, I don't know if the seat is similar to mine on my Boomer, but if it is, the slides that move inside the channels are adjustable. Mine have screws that adjust the amount of drag (width) of the non-metallic slides. I struggled with mine until I discovered this adjustment and now it slides smoothly. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

If you have holes in the sides of the metal channel, I bet they are there to let you get an allen wrench (I think) into the adjustment screws. You do have to move the seat so the screws align with the holes, so if your seat is stuck, you might be out of luck. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

In some cases a hammer of sufficient size has been known to work near miracles. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif If you are going to persuade it, use a short piece of 2 X 4 and hit it with the hammer. The wood is soft enough that it won't mar the slides and it just may move the seat far enough to get your wrench on it to where it will do some good.
