NH TN55
I have a TN 55 that I purchased in 2000. I have received a letter from NH indicating that my dealer will inspect and service (if required) the following:
mechanical differential lock,
park brake linkage, and
transmission shift linkage.

The labor is supposed to be free, but I will be charged for mileage if the dealer provides the service at my farm.

I had a problem early on with the shift linkage, but have not had any problems with the other items.

Has anyone had problems with the parking brake or differentail lock?

Yes, the differential lock will start to stick and work hard like what happened with your shift linkage. The last time I had my 65 in they tore all of them apart, cleaned them up and no-siezed them all before the put it back together. Works better now then it ever has. I did not have any problems with the parking linkage but it is probally the same thing. My dealer never charges me anything for doing warranty work either at my place or if they haul the tractor in. I live only a couple miles from my dealer so that may help some but the topic has never came up. I would advise you to haul your tractor in as it is easier for them to do it in their shop, and if they are going to charge you for working at your place you don't want them to have to run back to the shop for something and charge you extra mileage. I would talk to them and see if they will do it for free as my mechanic friend who fixed mine told me they have been fixing all the TN's when they come into the shop even before the letter came out maybe you could have it done when your machined is serviced for something else if it isn't acting up.

we have 12 of these units to do at our dealership and transportation is included. in our instructions we are told not to charge the customer for this service your dealer should take care of you.

I took delivery of my TN65 in January 2002. Was this service bulletin just issued, what model years does it cover? I haven’t received a notice from NH so I guess the problem was corrected on my tractor.

I could not tell you but if your serial number falls in you will get notice, if this is a fresh factory tractor my guess would be things have all ready been addressed. If this tractor has been on the dealer lot for a while it may need the updates! The best source for this information is your dealers service manager.

I am going to drop mine off for the 50 hr. service Monday. One of the things I was going to have looked at was the diff lock. I'm betting they never heard of this campaign. :)

They should have as the dealers have been told to fix this problem whenever they have the machines in their shop. It is a fairly common problem on the TN's but the fix is a good one and you will be happy when it is done.

My dealership is dumb as a stump. They are really nice people but when I talk to just about anybody there they look at me like I'm talking Greek. After the PITA I had buying paint, like I'm supposed to know the part number for the color on a 2001 TN 65, I bought the parts and service manuals. I bought an Echo chainsaw and they had the chain on backwards. I am a mechanic by trade and I try to ask intelligent questions. They are probably just over worked and underpaid.

I contacted by dealer the other day regarding my new TN65 and the campaign 904 issue. They said they would have to check and would call back but no one has called back yet. My serial number is 1244614, is this one of the tractors included in the service campaign.

Thanks

Yeah, i've problem with the shifter.....couldn't get it over into 3rd or 4th (or back to 1st and 2nd) without working it real hard.......I haven't used the Diff lock since I got the tractor....so not sure sure about that.

Good luck or bad, I cracked a hydrolic line underneath my TN70 the day the Campaign (recall) notice came in...so my dealer was going to have to take it to his place anyway, i'm not planning on paying for towing so to speak....

Not sure what caused my hydrolic line to start spraying...it's the line that comes down towards the back (from the pump?), around the pan in the back and back to the front where it goes in the bottom of the power shuttle filter.....
