Amazing.. i seem to have found an oldie that gets comparitively better gas milage than a newer similar model. I'm betting that don't happen alot.

On the flip side.. it is probably pay back for the 172CI gassers I have in my 850 and 951.. both of them are gas HOGS.. I can figure on using a gallon just starting them up and doind an odd job..

Obviously you have to make a few adjustments and figure out what some of the details mean. As in every case, your mileage will vary. Probably like car/truck EPA mileage results: best used to compare to other tractors. You could also ask your local highway mowing dept's. They may have had them in the past, and can comment on them versus other models.

I was going to find the test for the TN, but was too lazy. However, comparing the posted data to Soundguy's late model 5000 gear drive, we find the TN develops 15.99 hp-hrs/gallon at rated PTO speed and HP. The 5000 develops 15.49 hp-hrs/gallon at its rated PTO speed and load. In the real world, that difference probably would not be noticed.
